i spent time studying with allan kaprow while in graduate skool and then worked with niki de saint phalle from 1994 until shortly before her death ... while i am an object maker, the greater part of my work has been "life genre," where there is no boundary between art and life.
that's part of how i ended up being a tattooist, or as i prefer to call myself: a "tattooer"
... in the spirit of marcel duchamp, who said (and i'm paraphrasing here folks): the title of 'artist' is like that of a 'plumber' or a 'mechanic', it is, simply another job title ...
and also in understanding a bit about the history of tattooing ... it was, i think, charlie wagner, who coined the word "tattooist," wanting to create a word for tattooers that sounded more like the word "artist" ...
